Audiobook Mode and a Rebuilt CarPlay

Version 22.2 introduces Audiobook Mode. M4B files and songs marked as audiobooks play one at a time in their own queue, with chapter-by-chapter navigation on CarPlay, and CarPlay itself has been rebuilt from the ground up for reliability.

New

Player - Audiobook Mode. M4B files and songs marked as audiobooks play one at a time with skip-back and skip-forward controls on the player, lock screen, and CarPlay. Books remember their own playback speed, stop at the end, and stay out of shuffle and auto-play. Turn it on or off under Settings > Player > Audiobooks.
CarPlay - Chaptered audiobooks are shown chapter by chapter, with the chapter title and progress on Now Playing, previous and next chapter buttons, and a chapter list
Player - Pick any playback speed from 0.5x to 3.0x in 0.1x steps, on the player and in CarPlay
Player - Playback speed and sleep timer buttons are now right on the player
Library - Move songs without dragging. The play queue and your manual playlists have a new Move menu with To Top, To Next, To Position, and To Bottom, and it works on a selection of songs. Playlist rows now show their position number.
Connect - Find SMB servers on your network automatically. Tap Find Servers in SMB settings to see Macs, NAS devices, and Windows PCs and pick one instead of typing an address.
Library - Sort songs by file name, on every song list and in the smart-playlist builder
Library - Sort options on shortcut tabs and on Featured "See All" lists
Interface - Keep Search Bar Visible, a new option under Settings > Interface, keeps search at the top of your lists so you don't have to scroll back up

CarPlay - Rebuilt from the ground up for reliability, with faster startup, no duplicate Up Next screens, and less flicker on the shuffle and repeat buttons
Library - Cover art is sharper in the small and extra-small grid sizes
App - Restore Purchases now tells you whether anything was restored

Fixed

App - Pro features now unlock correctly on Apple silicon Macs
CarPlay - Could show a blank screen and return to the CarPlay home screen on iOS 27 with large Files libraries
CarPlay - List icons were oversized on iOS 27
Player - Songs removed in Apple Books or Music, or deleted from a synced folder, no longer linger in the play queue or on the now-playing bar
Player - The chapter display no longer resets to chapter 1 while paused
Player - Chapter lists written in the comments tag were ignored for files longer than an hour
Player - Dragging the CarPlay or lock-screen scrubber all the way to the end now finishes the track instead of being ignored
Library - Wrong album art could appear for files with unusual names, for files replaced in place, and after using "Use for Artist" or "Use for Genre" on items without a name
Library - Renaming a tag now updates its child tags correctly
Library - Smart playlists that appeared empty after updating to v22.0 now repair themselves
Library - Albums without a genre or year no longer show stray separators and "N/A" in the header
Player - Removing the only song in the queue while it was playing no longer restarts it
Connect - Cancelling a Google Drive download no longer hangs
Library - Two crashes on the Featured screen, one at launch and one when tapping a See All list during a refresh
Player - A crash when cancelling a drag in the play queue on iOS 26
